The course crosses San Luis Potosí's most iconic landscapes.
The route starts at Tangamanga Park I, goes up Av. Salvador Nava toward the Historic Center, passes Plaza de los Fundadores and the Cathedral, then returns to the park. The full marathon repeats a modified loop.
Hydration points every 2.5 km with water and sports drink.
Medical stations at km 5, 10, 15, 21, 30 and finish line.
Landmarks: Tangamanga Park, Av. Carranza, Plaza de Armas, Metropolitan Cathedral, Teatro de la Paz.

Essential tips for running in San Luis Potosí.
Altitude
San Luis Potosí sits at 1,860 meters (6,100 ft) above sea level. If you're coming from a low-altitude city, arrive at least 2 days early to acclimatize. Altitude affects your pace and recovery.
June weather
Temperature between 15°C (59°F) at start and 28°C (82°F) at midday. Possible afternoon showers. Wear light clothing, a cap and sunscreen. Hydrate more than usual.
Hydration
At this altitude, you need more water than usual. Drink 500ml 2 hours before start. Take advantage of every hydration point on the course.
Warm-up
The warm-up zone is at the main esplanade of Tangamanga Park. Arrive at least 45 minutes before your start time.

When does registration open?
Registration usually opens in January. Check maratontangamanga.com for exact dates and prices by category. Prices increase as the event approaches.
Do I need a medical certificate?
Yes, for 21K and 42K distances a valid sports medical certificate is required (issued within the last 6 months) when picking up your kit.
Are there pacemakers?
Yes, the marathon has official pacemakers for 3:30, 4:00, 4:30 and 5:00 hours in the marathon, and 1:45 and 2:00 in the half marathon.
What is the time limit?
Marathon: 6 hours. Half marathon: 3 hours. 10K: 1 hour 30 minutes. 5K: 45 minutes.
Does altitude affect performance?
Yes. At 1,860m above sea level, expect 5-10% lower performance than at sea level. Arrive 2-3 days early to acclimatize and adjust your target pace.
Can I change distance after registering?
Distance changes are subject to availability and allowed up to 2 weeks before the event, with a possible fee adjustment.
Is there bag check?
Yes, there is a bag check service at the start/finish area in Tangamanga Park. Avoid leaving valuables.
How do I check my results?
Results are posted in real-time on the marathon website and official app. The timing chip records split and net times.
Are there hydration stations?
Yes, every 2.5 km there are hydration stations with water, sports drink, and at some points, fruit (banana and orange).
Can I run with headphones?
Yes, headphones are allowed, but keeping the volume low is recommended so you can hear instructions from marshals and emergency vehicles.
